At Design Shenzhen 2025, the specially curated project madedit invited visitors to rethink what “manufacturing” truly means. Bringing together leading enterprises from furniture, hardware, storage, smart devices, and new materials, the madedit section showcased innovative practices in modular, scenario-based, and customised production — all responding to the growing demand for personalisation and diversity in contemporary living.

The exhibition unfolded like a living laboratory of design possibilities: Furniture was reimagined as LEGO-like modules, freely assembled into new spatial forms. Hardware and storage took on playful, inventive twists. Smart devices and advanced materials infused the space with futuristic energy. Most importantly, every exhibit whispered the same idea — manufacturing is no longer confined to cold factories and assembly lines. It can embody creativity, lifestyle and brand identity.

madedit – Manufacturing Edit proposed that manufacturing is not merely the pursuit of technical perfection, but a process of creating scenes of living and reconstructing brand value. Together with Design Shenzhen, the project called for a new narrative of Chinese manufacturing — exploring how factories can evolve into brands and how “making” can once again become a creative act.
