Re:Materialize advocates for a material-driven approach in the early stages of design, emphasising a "materials-first" philosophy. Through aesthetic reinterpretation and innovative applications of materials, it encourages designers to explore the essence and potential of materials, promoting sustainable and creative material design practices.

The showcase, jointly initiated by Rong Design Library and Design Shanghai, invites interdisciplinary artists, designers, and material producers to create works inspired by the 2025/26 Material Trend Report’s three core themes. Following its debut at Design Shanghai in June 2025, it is featured at Design Shenzhen with two exhibitions: Re:Materialize Consumer Technology · Material Aesthetics Trend Exhibition and Re:Materialize High-Value Residential Property · Material Aesthetics Trend Exhibition.

Centered on the three core themes of Róng Design Library’s 2025/26 Material Trend Report, the 2025 Design Shenzhen Re:Materialize Consumer Technology Material Aesthetics Trend Exhibition has invited 5 groups of interdisciplinary designers, 6 traditional craftsmanship representatives, and 8 outstanding brands from diverse industrial technology material fields to conduct cross-border material-based creations. The exhibition explores how materials can play a greater role in emotional regulation and design storytelling in the current era, and jointly weaves compelling material stories.

Recomposed Matter

Recomposed Matter focuses on extending the lifecycle of materials: when old materials are broken down, they do not vanish into nothingness. Instead, through classification, screening, and reconstruction, they are reaggregated into a new material.

Sensory Refuge

Sensory Shelter emphasizes materials’ function of caring for the body and emotions. With warm tactility, soft textures, and serene tones, it builds a low-stimulation, slow-paced, and linger-worthy sensory space.

Fantasia Moments

Amid the gaps of daily life, it unlocks the energy of sensory delight and imagination. Through colors, light, shadow, and forms, design releases impromptu sensory pleasure. Rainbow pastels, emerging as new neutrals, embody the dreamy aesthetics and gender-inclusive taste of young people in their pursuit of individuality.

Taking the "6E Value Prism" proposed in the luxury residence research report developed by Matrix Research Institute as its methodology, the Re:Materialize High-Value Residential Property · Material Aesthetics Trend Exhibition maps the aesthetic, functional, and emotional needs of residences to three macro trends: "Ephemeral Delight, Future Sanctuary, and Balanced Coexistence". Under this framework, we further break down high-value residential spaces into six clear and measurable value dimensions. Using materials as the medium, these dimensions are re-integrated into three future-oriented material trends for human habitation: "Joyful Diversity, Rooted Memories, and Evolving Inheritance".

The artists, craftsmen, and outstanding brands gathered at this exhibition are precisely the refraction and focus of this beam of value. Their works and practices collectively interpret the core of a high-value space: it is not merely a physical dwelling, but a spiritual realm that responds to the inner self and coexists with its inhabitants. This exhibition aims to initiate a long-term dialogue that transcends boundaries.
